Fall is quickly fading and winter is coming fast, and we in the hair industry are always looking for a reason to celebrate a new haircut or style! Whether you are due for a trim or are wanting to completely revamp your hair style, there's no better time to try something new than the holiday season! Here are a few of my 2017 Madison Indiana haircut recommendations. ANGLED LOB Are you growing out a blunt bob or a lob cut? Then this sophisticated angled lob is perfect for you! Elegant in it's simplicity, it's the best transitional cut if your goal is to grow your hair long, and is perfectly suited for those with fine to medium straight strands. LONG SHAG First, let's just get one thing straight: you gotta have a LOT of hair to rock this cut! Especially if you have the kind of hair thickness where your stylist needs to regularly thin your hair. Request side swept bangs and tons of long layers. PIXIE HAIRCUT Contrary to popular opinion, most women can pull off a pixie - it just takes the confidence to make the cut! If you're ready for the chop, have your hair stylist razor-cut the length as short as possible. Instead of scissors, the use of a razor helps add softness to the cut. RETRO BOB Flashback from the '90s: this bob is styled straight with a slight flip at the ends and is best on fine to medium thick hair. For an additional hint of retro, go with a deep side part. Use a moisturizing hairspray to mimic that "just out of the shower" look. Which is your favorite?

It's one of the most frequent and anxiety-ridden questions I hear from my clients: "Do you think I should I keep growing my hair out, or should I go for a short haircut? Help me!" First off, let me say that you're not crazy - if your hair grows at a glacial pace, then the decision to opt for a short hairstyle chould be a HUGE deal for you! But then again, with good judgment, it can absolutely be the right move. So how do you make this decision in a way that won't have you leaving my salon as a sobbing mess of regret? You want to love your haircut Madison Indiana! my top 5 hair cut tips:1. When considering a short hair cut, don't be impulsive!
Spontaneous decisions can be one of the more enjoyable indulgences of life, but when it's your hair we're talking about, it's best to leave all spontanaeity for the dessert menu. If you are someone with long hair who wants me to lop it all off, I won't do it...unless you are absolutely 100% certain! Look, there's no rush here - take the time to think this one through. Don't do it because you "just saw that movie with so-and-so and her short hair looked amazing"; don't do it because you somehow think it will be less maintenance, and don't do it because it's the trending hair length among your stylish circle of friends. Is a short hairstyle what you really want, or is it because you want to look like _______? 2. Remember your past haircuts. If you have had short hair in the past and rocked it, or if you've never had short hair before but have always wanted to try it, then sure - cutting your hair off should be a good move! (After all, if you don't try it, how will you ever know?) HOWEVER, if your bff looks super cute with that pixie haircut but deep down your subconscious is screaming at you that you don't like your own hair short - even if it's an incredible cut - chances are you will never like it short. 3. How emotionally attached to your locks are you? For some women, their hair length is an emotional safety blanket and a huge part of what makes them feel feminine; for others, their hair is a dramatic channel of self expression and an ever-evolving work of art. Which type are you? If you are attached to your hair but feel compelled to change it, there are many other hair treatments you can consider other than lopping it all off! How about trying bangs? Or a bold hair color? Or what about adding even more length with hair extensions? You can even learn some new ways to style your hair that will give you the change you're itching for. However, if you aren't attached to your hair at all, then yes - go ahead and chop those locks! 4. Know your hairs personality. Do you have naturally curly hair, super thick locks, or fine hair? When it comes to short hairstyles, there are definitely certain types of hair that will work better than others. For example, if your hair has curls like Sarah Jessica Parker, please understand that you'll either be wearing it curly everyday or putting in your time with the flat iron! If your hair is ridiculously thick, your stylist will need to appropriately thin and texturize your hair so it will lay correctly to avoid the dreaded "triangle head". If your hair is thin, then you want to retain as much volume as possible and your stylist will need to be extra careful with layering and thinning. Knowing these things can greatly increase your chances of having an fabulous haircut Madison Indiana women! 5. Find a hair stylist you can trust! If I were in your shoes and knew I wanted to cut off my hair, I know EXACTLY who I would go to. Who is your go-to hair stylist? Ideally you would choose a stylist you really like and who has cut, colored, treated, or styled your hair several times before. You want someone who has experience with your particular head of hair. If you are ready to take the plunge and cut your hair off, trust me - it's not the time to go to a beauty school, or try a brand new stylist, or save a few bucks by having a friend do it. Be thorough in your research and be prepared to spend a little more on your haircut so you leave the hair salon with locks that you love! First...WELCOME TO MY FIRST POST! I'm starting this blog because I wanted another way to connect with you all, keep you up-to-date with the latest haircut and hair color styles, trends, products, and industry techniques, and basically, just share a bit of my crazyawesomecolorful world with you :) I absolutely LOVE my career, and few things in life give me greater pleasure than seeing that giddy sparkle in your eye after you leave my chair with a fabulous haircut or hair color Madison Indiana. Ba-lay-whaddy?Today's focus: the balayage! It's a French term that means "to sweep", and if you've ever actually watched me giving someone a balayage at the hair salon, this will totally make sense to you. When I'm applying hair color for a balayage onto a board or foil, I am literally sweeping color through small triangled sections of their hair. This allows me a great deal of control over the color gradation as it transitions naturally from dark into the lighter color. To create even more dimension, I will usually leave a few darker pieces at the bottom so it looks natural and not too "perfect". This technique beautifully and naturally mimics the sunkissed highlighted effect you'd get after spending a summer at the beach. It's all about the subtlety, baby! It's a big hit with my Madison hair color clients, not only because it looks gorgeous but it's also wonderfully low maintenance! how to choose the right stylist for your balayageYou've seen the pictures, you know you'd rock this color style, and you now want to take the plunge - what's the next step? Call your regular hair stylist and ask if he/she has had experience with this technique; then, request to see pictures of their balayage portfolio. Remember, it's not enough for someone to have just had experience - you want them to execute their hair color technique like a boss! Have they chosen colors and tones that work well with their clients? Meaning, do their results look natural? You can't be too picky here - I mean, this is your hair we're talking about after all!
If you can't find someone local who does this technique well, it's definitely worth the time, distance, and money to travel to a nearby city to a salon with a great reputaton for their balayage and where they've amassed a lot of positive reviews. Find someone who won't rush this treatment and will take the time to make sure it's done well. Lastly, you should leave the hair salon completely satisfied! You've shelled out some good money for this hair service, so make sure you locate a stylist who won't be offended if you feel your balayage is "not quite right" and will work to make you happy with your hair. |
